Interest and Learning Outcomes

The Master of Public Health (MPH) Program at UGM aims to be a leading research-based educational institution in public health, advancing national and global development.

The program follows a Semester Credit System (SKS) with a study load of 40-50 credits, including a thesis worth 8 credits. The teaching and learning activities emphasize enhancing students’ knowledge, research skills, managerial abilities, and practical field skills. These activities include classroom lectures, tutorials, assignments, research seminars, fieldwork, as well as the use of websites and information technology. Graduates of this program will earn a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. The learning outcomes are aligned with the graduate profiles and areas of interest.

Learning Outcomes (CPL)

The study program has six learning outcomes (CPL), as detailed below:

  • Demonstrates the ability to uphold morality and universal values reflected in the ideology of Pancasila.

  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze public health programs based on the five main principles of public health.

    Indicators:

    1. Identifies specific problems for focused problem-solving.
    2. Develops alternative solutions using the five public health principles.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct and publish research.

    Indicators:

    1. Designs appropriate public health studies.
    2. Assesses the quality of public health evidence.
    3. Applies scientific writing principles in manuscripts.
    4. Implements good research practices.
  • Demonstrates the ability to create effective, efficient, and sustainable public health programs and healthcare delivery services.

    Indicators:

    1. Analyzes health needs and demands within populations.
    2. Formulates effective and efficient public health services.
    3. Evaluates the sustainability of public health programs.
  • Demonstrates the ability to formulate policies and advocate for health systems and public health.

    Indicators:

    1. Identifies health policy issues.
    2. Develops alternative policies for specific social and demographic situations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to apply theories and principles within public health concentrations or specialties.

Concentration Options

Maternal and Child Health – Reproductive Health

The Maternal and Child Health – Reproductive Health concentration aims to produce professionals capable of making significant contributions to improving maternal, child, and reproductive health at both national and international levels.

Nutrition and Health

The Master’s program in Nutrition and Health (GK) is dedicated to advancing education, enhancing knowledge, and improving management skills in the field of nutrition. It is committed to educating managers and researchers in the nutrition-health sector.

Field Epidemiology

The Field Epidemiology concentration, or Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), is an educational program designed to produce skilled field epidemiologists who will serve as disease intelligence officers. The FETP Indonesia is a collaborative education program between the university and the Ministry of Health, following international FETP competency standards.

International Health

The International Health concentration aims to become an institution of education, research, and public health practice with international credibility.

Epidemiology

The Epidemiology concentration is designed to produce expert epidemiologists with a high level of expertise in designing and managing various types of epidemiological research and solving health problems according to international standards.

One Health

The One Health concentration is designed to produce One Health experts by providing a comprehensive understanding of the complexity of health issues at a global level. It emphasizes the interconnectedness between humans, animals, and the environment to contribute to holistic health problem-solving.

Behavioral and Health Promotion

This concentration focuses on enhancing students’ skills and knowledge through both classroom and field learning experiences.

Environmental Health

The Environmental Health concentration aims to produce graduates with leadership qualities and competencies in the field of environmental health.

Occupational Safety and Health

The Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) concentration aims to produce graduates with expertise and discipline in OSH, aligned with the capacity and capabilities of each graduate.
