General Requirements

UGM Master’s Program Application Requirements

The required documents and/or data for registration are as follows:

  1. An original degree certificate from the previous education program (S1 or equivalent) from an accredited program in a relevant or related field, approved by the intended Master’s Program.
  2. An official transcript from the S1 or equivalent program with the following GPA criteria:
    1. ≥ 2.50 on a 4.0 scale for graduates from A-accredited programs.
    2. ≥ 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for graduates from B-accredited programs.
    3. ≥ 3.00 on a 4.0 scale for graduates from C-accredited programs.
  3. A certificate of accreditation for the S1 or equivalent program, with the following conditions:
    1. The accreditation must be current and proven by a scanned copy of the accreditation certificate or a screenshot of the accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT)/LAM-PTKes website that is still valid.
    2. If the program’s accreditation is under renewal, proof must be provided by a receipt for the accreditation form submission to BAN-PT/LAM-PTKes from the respective university. A letter from the university is not valid.
    3. Graduates from foreign universities must have a diploma equivalency letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture (KEMDIKBUD) as a substitute for the accreditation certificate. The committee will only process accreditation documents that comply with the requirements.
  4. A valid potential test certificate (valid for a maximum of 2 years from the date of issue). The committee will only accept the following potential tests:

    *) Applicants must have a score. The minimum score is determined by the intended program (it may exceed the minimum score listed on the um.ugm.ac.id website).

  5. A valid English proficiency test certificate (valid for a maximum of 2 years from the date of issue). The committee will only accept the following English proficiency tests:

  6. Two confidential recommendations from individuals who know the applicant from their previous education program, such as an Academic Supervisor and/or another authorized person, like a work supervisor. The UM UGM Committee will send a link for online recommendations to the recommenders via email. Ensure the recommender’s email address is valid and active.
  7. Special Requirements:
    1. A projection of the applicant’s motivation for joining the Master’s Program, including research topic/interest plans, reasons and expectations for joining the chosen program, research topic plans, and plans after graduation (the format can be downloaded here).
    2. A thesis research proposal*/essay/other special requirements as mandated by the study program. *) Required for research-based applicants.
  8. A study leave/learning permit from the current employer for applicants who are employed (the format can be downloaded here).
  9. A valid Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) or Cooperation Agreement (PKS) document or a Letter of Award as a Scholarship Recipient (for applicants in the cooperation pathway).
  10. A Statement of Document Authenticity (the format can be downloaded here).

The respective study program/faculty/graduate school may set higher GPA, potential test, and English proficiency standards than those required by the university. For further information, please contact the intended program.
